Principles of Retailing

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Introduction to the retailing environment and its relationship consumer demographics, trends, and traditional/nontraditional retailing markets. The employment of retailing techniques and the factors that influence modern retailing.

 COURSE FOCUS:

The student will examine running a retail business – merchandising, marketing, operations, finance, and human resources. Emphasis will be placed on matching individual needs and wants of consumers for products and services within the interrelationship of these activities.

Introduction to Fashion

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Survey of the world of fashion businesses. Introduction to the creation and merchandising of fashion through the study of fashion vocabulary, the fashion process, fashion publications, and career opportunities.

COURSE FOCUS:

Through this overview of the fashion industry, students are given a foundation for understanding the interrelationships of the four levels of the industry. Students will also increase their knowledge of the marketing and merchandising activities common in the fashion industry.
